Self catering apartment in Portugal
This superb self-catering apartment (duplex/town house style) is in Algoz in the Algarve, about 10-15 minutes from Albufeira. The apartment is within a short drive of very nice beaches, golf courses and leisure facilities. It has accommodation for 4-6, its own balcony, garden and furnished private patio where you can relax and enjoy al-fresco meals.
Algoz - a hidden gem in the Algarve - is situated in the centre of the Algarve and within the province of Silves, once the ancient capital of the Moorish Al-Gharb. A welcoming atmosphere and unequalled peace and quiet contrast with the diversity of local attractions, cultural and leisure opportunities. Rolling hills are splashed with the different shades of green created by the typical trees of the region, carob, almond, olive, fig and orange. This is the Mediterranean at its best, where all kinds of Algarvean flowers blossom.
Algoz attracts people from all walks of life due to its low population, open countryside, picturesque architecture and huge variety of tourist and cultural attractions. You can get away from the hustle and bustle of the Algarve coastal resorts, yet still be within easy reach of them. It is set in the Algarve countryside and is about 8 km inland from the resort of Armacao de Pera, and just under 14 km from the historic castled town of Silves. It is approximately a 40-minute drive from Faro Airport and it is also well served by train and bus services.
Originally Algoz was just a farming community, but now perhaps more famous for its ceramics and pottery which can be found in the local shops. This relaxed village has a number of shops, some good yet inexpensive restaurants and a number of bars dotted around the town. There is a daily market, and a larger monthly market selling everything from linen to antiques. Worth a visit is the The Manueline style main church, the Rural Museum and at the top of the hill there is The Church of Our Lady of Pilar where you will also be rewarded with beautiful views.
